Machinist (Day & Night Shift)

 

Summary

To machine and produce complex production and prototype parts on large conventional and NC machines to customer/in-house specifications accurately and in a timely manner.  Machinists must be highly skilled and participate as important members of various lean manufacturing and continuous improvement activities.

 

 

Position Duties
  • Essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Work from prints, sketches and verbal instructions 
  • Makes standard shop calculations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds and speeds, to machine a variety of materials efficiently
  • Plans and lays out work using a variety of tools and precision measuring instruments
  • Makes own setups using all shop support tooling sine plates, rotary tables, universal heads, knees, jacks, etc.
  • Selects standard materials, parts and equipment required for the job
  • Fits and assembles parts into mechanical equipment
  • Machines all types of material holding positional and size tolerance as required by drawing and or sketch
  • Makes use of all features of a CNC machine and control to efficiently produce quality parts
  • Keeps detailed notes recording all work they have completed
  • Measures and records dimensions of machined product as required per COP program
  • Performs TPM and 6S activities as required
  • Maintains compliance with all facility, local, state and federal safety standards
  • Interact with shop supervision, project management, engineering, programming department and other employees
  • Immediately notifies  shop supervision of any non-conformances / discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Trains other operators as required
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by supervisor

 

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • 5 years shop experience in machining of close tolerance medium to large size parts
  • Proficient in shop math, trigonometry, measuring techniques and geometric tolerancing
  • Able to read blueprints
  • Must have own tools

 

 

 

 

CMM Operator

 

Position Duties

  • Familiar with PC-DMIS and large Machined parts inspection

  • Blue Print Reading

  • Knowledge of GD&T callouts

  • Programming PC-DMIS a plus

  • General inspection

  • Laser Tracker/Verisurf experience a plus

 

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Familiar with CMS Equipment and software (Verisurf X)

  • Familiar with ANSI Y 14.5.

  • Use various standard measuring instruments

  • Standard machine shop math & trigonometry

  • Able to perform first article, in-process, & final inspection on large precision machined parts

  • Able to set up & perform open surface plate inspection

  • Able to make sound judgment when checking machine set ups

  • Proficient in interpreting geometric dimensioning and tolerancing, surface plate work, inspection and layout work

  • High school graduate or equivalent

  • 5 years minimum machine shop experience
